I am a development communications professional with nearly a decade of experience writing narratives that support fundraising, donor engagement, and institutional priorities. Grounded in a background in journalism, literature, and philosophy, I distill complex ideas into accessible stories that inspire action and demonstrate tangible results.

In a world increasingly shaped by automated content, I believe donors are looking for something more human: stories that reflect genuine voices and the shared purpose behind every gift.

I’ve spent nearly a decade in university advancement at the University of Northern Iowa, where I currently serve as Senior Development Writer. In that role, I have led storytelling and message development for the university's Our Tomorrow campaign, which surpassed both its $250 million goal and its $300 million stretch goal. I also write long-form features for the UNI alumni magazine, work that has earned multiple awards over the years, including a CASE Platinum Award for Article of the Year in 2020.

I specialize in major gift proposals, corporate and foundation grants, campaign communications, donor profiles, press releases, and impact reports. My full resume is available on request.

What I Do

I help mission-driven organizations tell stories that inspire generosity and build trust.

Proposal writing. Researching, developing, and writing principal-gift proposals and corporate and foundation grant requests that align donor interests with institutional priorities.

Stewardship. Impact reports, acknowledgments, executive correspondence, press releases, and donor features that recognize support and carry a philanthropic story from the case for support through impact.

Strategic communications. Case statements, event and video scripts, website and campaign content, newsletters, and collateral, developed in close partnership with communications and advancement colleagues.
